Privacy Policy for MD Reader Pro Last updated: 07/26/2026 linecode.pro ("we", "us", or "our") publishes the MD Reader Pro application ("the App") for Windows. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information. By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described below. 1. OVERVIEW MD Reader Pro is a local Markdown viewer and editor. The App is designed with privacy in mind: it does not require an account, does not collect personal data, and does not send any information to us or to third parties. All data the App works with stays on your device. 2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information. The App does not include analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking of any kind. 3. DATA STORED ON YOUR DEVICE To provide a convenient experience, the App stores a small amount of data locally on your device only: - Preferences — your selected color theme (System, Light, or Dark) and your preferred zoom level. - Recent files — a list of up to 15 files you have opened, including each file's path, name, and the date it was last opened, so you can quickly reopen them. This information is stored on your device using the Windows application data store (or a local settings file). It is never transmitted to us or to any third party. You can remove this data at any time — for example, by clearing the recent-files list within the App, or by uninstalling the App, which removes all locally stored data. 4. FILES YOU OPEN The App only accesses files that you explicitly choose to open — for example, through the Open dialog, by dragging a file onto the window, through the Windows file association for .md and .markdown files, or by pasting text from the clipboard. The App does not scan, index, upload, or transmit the contents of your files. Your documents remain entirely on your device. 5. INTERNET ACCESS The App requests the Windows internet capability solely so that the rendering engine (Microsoft Edge WebView2) can display remote content that may be referenced inside a Markdown document, such as an image hosted on a website (for example, ![diagram](https://example.com/image.png)). The App itself does not contact any server operated by us, and it does not send any data about you or your documents over the network. When the App displays remote content, your device connects directly to the host of that content, which is subject to that host's own privacy policy. 6. EXTERNAL LINKS Markdown documents may contain links to external websites. When you click such a link, it opens in your default web browser. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of any third-party website. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit. 7. THIRD-PARTY COMPONENTS The App relies on the following Microsoft-provided runtime components, which are governed by Microsoft's own terms and privacy policy: - Windows App SDK and Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime — used to render formatted documents. These components run locally on your device. 8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY The App does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. 9. DATA SECURITY Because the App does not collect or transmit any data, there is no data in transit to secure. The small amount of data stored locally is protected by the security features of the Windows operating system and your device. 10. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. 11.
