OrthoRay DICOM Viewer - Privacy Policy

1. Overview
OrthoRay DICOM Viewer ("Software") is designed with privacy as a core principle. This Privacy Policy explains how the Software handles data.

2. Data Collection
OrthoRay is an offline-first desktop application. We DO NOT collect: personal information, medical images or DICOM data, usage analytics or telemetry, location data, or browsing history.

3. Local Data Storage
All data processed by OrthoRay remains on your local machine: DICOM files are read from your local storage and never uploaded; application settings (window preferences, performance profiles) are stored locally; cached image data is stored temporarily in your system's application data directory; no data is transmitted to external servers.

4. Hardware Detection
On first launch, OrthoRay detects your hardware capabilities (GPU model, RAM, CPU cores) solely to optimize rendering performance. This information is stored locally in your settings file and is never transmitted externally.

5. Network Activity
OrthoRay may connect to the internet only for: license validation (periodic check with our server), software update checks (optional). No medical data or personal information is transmitted during these operations.

6. Third-Party Services
The Software does not integrate with third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. Open-source dependencies used in the Software are listed in the project documentation.

7. DICOM Data Handling
OrthoRay processes DICOM files that may contain Protected Health Information (PHI). All DICOM processing occurs locally on your machine. PHI is never extracted, stored separately, or transmitted. The Software does not maintain a database of patient information. Users are responsible for securing access to their own DICOM files.

8. Data Security
Local settings are stored in your operating system's standard application data directory. Temporary cache files are automatically cleaned up. No encryption keys or credentials are stored in plaintext.

9. Children's Privacy
The Software is intended for use by medical professionals and researchers. It is not directed at children under the age of 18.

10. Your Rights
Since OrthoRay does not collect personal data, traditional data subject rights (access, deletion, portability) are inherently satisfied. You can delete all local data by uninstalling the Software and removing the application data directory.

11. Compliance
This Privacy Policy is designed to be consistent with GDPR (EU), KVKK (Turkey), and HIPAA (USA) principles, particularly the principle of data minimization.

12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy with new versions of the Software. Changes will be presented for your review.
