Privacy Policy Effective Date: January 15, 2026 1. Introduction Your privacy is a priority for us. This Privacy Policy explains how Network Monitor & Antivirus ("the Application") handles information. The Application is a security tool designed to monitor network activity, scan files for threats, and manage system security settings on Windows. 2. Information Collection and Use We believe in "Privacy by Design." The Application does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII), such as your name, email address, or physical address. 3. Data Processing and Storage All security monitoring and file scanning are performed locally on your device: Network Monitoring: The Application processes local network connection data (IP addresses, ports, and process IDs) to display active connections. This data remains on your machine. File Scanning: Local folder scans are performed using the native Windows Defender engine. Quarantine: Files identified as threats are moved to a local, isolated folder on your device. No files are uploaded to our servers. Local Storage: Your settings (API keys, notification preferences) are stored locally using your browser's local storage or system configuration files. 4. Third-Party Services To provide its core features, the Application interacts with the following third-party services: IP-API (Geolocation): The Application sends remote IP addresses to ip-api.com to determine the geographical origin and organization of network connections. This is used solely for the "Threat Map" and connection identification. No personal mapping to your identity is performed. VirusTotal (Optional): If you provide a VirusTotal API Key in the settings, the Application will send the SHA-256 hashes of scanned files to virustotal.com to check against multiple antivirus engines. Full files are never uploaded. Leaflet & Map Tiles: The application uses Leaflet and third-party map tiles (CartoDB) to display the connection map. 5. Required Permissions The Application requires "Full Trust" (runFullTrust) capability to: Access network statistics (netstat) to monitor connections. Interface with Windows Firewall (netsh) to block malicious IPs. Execute system security commands and manage startup settings. 6. User Control You have full control over the information processed: You can enable or disable the VirusTotal integration at any time. You can clear the local quarantine and history logs from within the app. The application can be configured to stop running with Windows via the settings menu. 7. Changes to This Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Effective Date" at the top of this document. 8.
