================================================================================ PRIVACY POLICY - RADIO GAGA ================================================================================ Last updated: August 26, 2026 Radio Gaga ("the app", "we") is an internet radio app for Windows and Xbox: a globe you tune, with every station drawn where it actually transmits from. We designed it to keep your data on your own device. This policy explains exactly what the app does and does not do with your information. SUMMARY -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - We do not collect any personal data. Radio Gaga has no account with us and nothing to sign in to at our end, and asks for no name, email address, contacts, or payment information. There is no profile, no listener id, and nothing that follows you from one session to the next. - We do not use analytics, tracking, or telemetry. The app does not send usage statistics, listening history, crash reports, advertising identifiers, or any other data to us or to any third party. The only server we run is a plain file host for the station directory, and it is told nothing about you. - What you listen to stays on your device. Your favourites, your settings, and the station you had on when you closed the app are stored only in the app's local storage on your computer or console. None of it is uploaded, and none of it is shared between your devices. - Where you are is yours. The app can move the globe to your position if you press the button that asks for it, and Windows asks your permission first. That coordinate is used to point the camera and is then forgotten. It is never stored and never sent anywhere. - Playing a station is a connection to that station. When you tune in, the app fetches the stream straight from the broadcaster's own server, exactly as a browser would. That server sees your IP address. We are not in the middle of it, and we are not told about it. See "NETWORK CONNECTIONS". INFORMATION STORED ON YOUR DEVICE -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To provide its features, Radio Gaga stores the following locally, in the app's private storage and cache folders on your device. None of it is ever transmitted to us, and none of it goes anywhere else either: - Settings - volume and mute, interface language, map style and which globe layers are on, reticle style, whether the browse map or the globe was last open, whether closing the window leaves the app in the notification area, the diagnostic log level, and the position and size of the window and of the desktop widget. - Favourites - the stations you have starred, kept as a small list of station identifiers in the app's local storage. - The last station - the station that was playing when you closed the app, so it can be there again when you open it. - Station logos - the directory carries a logo address for most stations, but the picture itself lives on the broadcaster's own server. When you look at a station its logo is fetched once and kept in the app's cache folder, so the same picture is not fetched again. A logo address that answers with nothing usable is written down as such, so that the app stops asking. - Surface imagery tiles - the close-up ground imagery the globe fetches as you descend is cached on disk and pruned when it grows past a fixed size. - Station directory updates - if a newer directory has been published, the downloaded file is kept beside the copy that shipped inside the app. It is a station list: names, coordinates, stream addresses. Nothing about you is in it, and nothing about you is added to it. - Diagnostic logs - optional local log files used for troubleshooting. They may contain station names and stream addresses the app has opened. Logs are written only to your device and are never uploaded. You can set the logging level (including off) in the app's Settings. You can remove all of this data at any time by clearing the relevant items in the app or by uninstalling Radio Gaga, which deletes the app's local storage and cache. NETWORK CONNECTIONS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Radio Gaga connects to the internet for four things, and nothing else: - The station you tuned to. The audio stream is fetched directly from the address the directory holds for that station, which is the broadcaster's own server or the network it hires. That server necessarily sees your IP address and the app's user agent, the same as it would if you opened the stream in a browser or any other radio player, and what it does with that is governed by that broadcaster's own policy rather than ours. Nothing else is sent: no identifier of yours, no history, and nothing about the other stations you have listened to. Many stations send the current track title back along the same connection (ICY metadata); that arrives at your device and is displayed, and goes no further. - The station's logo. Fetched from the address in the directory, which is almost always the broadcaster's own site, and only for stations you actually look at. It is a plain image download. - Surface imagery for the globe. The app ships a whole-planet texture inside the package, and fetches sharper tiles only where you zoom in. Depending on the imagery source in use, those tiles come from Esri World Imagery (services.arcgisonline.com), NASA GIBS (gibs.earthdata.nasa.gov), or EOX Sentinel-2 cloudless (tiles.maps.eox.at). Over China, where those three are unreliable, the app can fall back to AutoNavi (webst0*.is.autonavi.com). A tile request carries only the coordinates of the square of ground being drawn - which is where you are pointing the camera, not where you are - and nothing else. - The station directory. The directory that ships inside the app is a snapshot of a world that moves, so the same file is also published online and the app checks for a newer one. This is a plain file download from a file host we operate (rgdata.msappx.com): a small manifest, and then the directory itself if it is newer than the one you have. There is no account system and nothing is sent with the request beyond what any file download carries - your IP address and the app's user agent. If the host cannot be reached, the copy inside the app keeps working and nothing is reported. No server of ours receives your data. rgdata.msappx.com is the only host we operate, and it only ever hands out files. The check for a newer version of the app itself goes through Microsoft's own Store services, which are part of Windows and report nothing to us. Links to the Microsoft Store, to system settings, or to the websites of the open data projects the app is built on open only when you choose to click them. Apart from these, the app contacts no host you did not ask it to. Radio Gaga has no advertising, no paid add-ons, and no purchases of any kind. LOCATION -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The app has one button that uses your location: the one that brings the globe to where you are, so you can hear what is near you. Windows asks your permission the first time, the answer is yours, and refusing leaves that button doing nothing while the rest of the app is unaffected. When you do allow it, the coordinate is used to aim the camera and is then discarded: it is not written to the settings file, not put in the logs, not attached to any request, and not sent to us or to anyone else. On Windows and Xbox alike you can revoke the permission at any time in the system's privacy settings. FILE ACCESS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Radio Gaga does not open your files. It reads the data baked inside its own package, writes to its own local storage and cache folders, and asks for no access to your documents, music, pictures, or drives. It has no file picker, registers no file associations, and never scans your disks. THIRD-PARTY COMPONENTS AND DATA -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The app bundles FFmpeg to decode audio streams; it runs entirely on your device and collects nothing. Audio output goes through XAudio2, which is part of Windows. The station list, the coastlines and borders, the surface texture and the starfield are all built from public open data - among them Radio Browser, Wikidata, SomaFM, Natural Earth, NASA imagery, and the Yale Bright Star Catalog. That work happens offline, before the app is built, and the finished files are shipped inside the package. The app does not contact any of those projects while you are using it. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Radio Gaga is a general-purpose radio app and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children. The stations it plays are live broadcasts from third parties, and their content is theirs, not ours.
