# Budget Unplugged Privacy Policy **Effective date: August 27, 2026** Budget Unplugged is a local-first personal finance application for Windows. This policy explains what information the app accesses, how that information is used, and the choices available to you. ## Information handled by the app Budget Unplugged may access and store information that you enter or import, including profile information, financial account details, balances, transactions, budgets, categories, bills, goals, investment holdings, loan information, and application settings. This information is used only to provide the app's budgeting, reporting, account-management, and related personal-finance features. Budget Unplugged does not require an online account. ## Local storage and security Your Budget Unplugged financial data is stored locally on your Windows device in an encrypted database. The database encryption key is protected using Windows Credential Manager. Local restore points remain encrypted, and password-protected portable backups are created only when you choose to create them. Budget Unplugged does not upload your profile, accounts, balances, transactions, budgets, or other financial records to servers operated by the developer. You are responsible for protecting access to your Windows account and for securely storing any backup or exported files. If you place a backup or export in a third-party storage service, that service's privacy practices apply. ## Market quote requests When you choose to look up or refresh a market price, Budget Unplugged sends the requested security symbol, such as a stock, exchange-traded fund, or mutual-fund ticker, to an external market-data provider. The provider may also receive technical information normally associated with an internet request, such as your IP address. Budget Unplugged currently uses Yahoo Finance for market quote data. Budget Unplugged does not include your name, account name, account balance, transaction history, or investment share count in a quote request. Yahoo's handling of information is governed by its own privacy policy, available at https://legal.yahoo.com/us/en/yahoo/privacy/index.html. ## Analytics, advertising, and sharing Budget Unplugged does not include advertising, analytics, behavioral tracking, or developer-operated telemetry. The developer does not sell, rent, or use your financial information for advertising. Except for a market quote request that you initiate, the app does not transmit your personal or financial data to third parties. Information may also leave the app when you deliberately export, back up, print, copy, or otherwise share it. ## Retention, access, and deletion Your information remains on your device until you edit or delete it, reset or uninstall the app, or remove its local data through Windows. Backup and exported files remain wherever you saved them until you delete them. The app's local controls allow you to view, edit, export, and delete your information. Because the developer does not receive or maintain a copy of your financial records, the developer cannot retrieve or delete those records for you. Before uninstalling or resetting the app, create a portable backup if you want to preserve your data. ## Children's privacy Budget Unplugged is not directed to children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information online from children. ## Changes to this policy This policy may be updated when Budget Unplugged's features or data practices change. The effective date above will be revised when an update is made. ## Contact For privacy questions or support, use the support contact information provided on Budget Unplugged's Microsoft Store listing.
